Selected Projects

This page is a partial look at the highlights from my online portfolio. As well as my own sites and projects, it includes some of the projects I was involved with at the BBC. The newer stuff is at the top, and I've sort of broken it up into themed sections.

I create all my sites with a simple design principle that revolves around the user. I can't stand small text online, so I make the text a good size to read. I like to keep the design simple, easy to follow and uncluttered. My sites come with elements of SEO built in to them as standard and content which often builds its own links thanks to its originality and relevance.

Bingo Related Projects

In my deep and dark past, I was a bingo caller for Top Rank. I've had a love of the game and its history since a child, and as a result became involved in online bingo. I work on a number of sites that both have unique information about and promote the game. It's an area I will continue to work in and continues to motivate me to create more content.

Playing Bingo

PlayingBingo.co.ukThe site focuses on both retail and online bingo in the UK. It features forum, industry news and opinions, guest writers and user generated content. Its aim is simple, to be the most trusted source for information on the game and history. Given the amount of spam on the subject, Playing Bingo is one of the few sites online with authentic and original content on the game. Visit: PlayingBingo.co.uk

Bingo Codes

BingoCodes.co.ukA blog that features special offers and sign-up deals from the world of online bingo in the UK. Bingo Codes offers online bingo players candid information on the sites featured, and all deals featured are play tested. With a growing mailing list, regular updates and content, the site succeeds in attracting and delivering high quality bingo traffic that converts. The quality of its traffic is thanks to the site's steadfast and honest approach to the game online. Visit: BingoCodes.co.uk

Recent Projects For Other People

These are sites I set up for people other than myself. I occasionally work on projects for other people as a change of pace, using the same principles of ease of use and search engine friendliness that I use for my own sites.

Rachel Trezise

RachelTrezise.co.ukThe official site of the up and coming Welsh author. The site features a journal that Rachel updates on her adventures, an overview of her novels and plays and other exclusive content. The site design ties in with the colour scheme of her last book, Dial M For Merthyr. The site features a blogger powered journal so Rachel is able to update the site herself, other elements such as calendar and other content is maintained by myself. Visit: RachelTrezise.co.uk

Jim Williams Roofing

JimWilliamRoofing.comA simple site with contact details and information for the South West Wales roofing firm. It features background information and galleries of the firm's work.

Additional personalised touches put a friendly and approachable face on the business. The site was built to rank highly for certain action terms to do with the roofing to gain it maximum search engine visibility for local searches. Visit: JimWilliamsRoofing.com

Niche Retail Stores

As an affiliate marketer, I'm moving towards sites that tap specific niches. Alongside simple sales related material, the sites also carry other content related to the subject and related advertising.

Wales Grand Slam 2008

WalesGrandSlam2008.co.ukThe site is powered by the Build A Niche Store (BANS) software, and provides quick and easy access to a range of Wales Rugby memorabilia and kit. Alongside the store elements of the site there are other areas of interest to Welsh Rugby fans such as the latest videos, news stories and photographs. Visit: WalesGrandSlam2008.co.uk

Vintage Strats

Vintage-Strats.comAnother site powered by the BANS software, it concentrates on rare and vintage versions of one of the world's most famous guitars, the Fender Stratocaster. It has sections for vintage Stratocaster guitars and parts, modern reissues and custom jobs alongside information and news on the ever popular guitar. Visit: Vintage-Strats.com

Personal Projects

I try to make a large percentage of my online work about stuff that interests me personally. Whilst I find ways of monetising these projects, they exist more as I enjoy them than because they earn me money.

Dio Bach's Web Fun

DioBach.comThis is my personal blog, that up until this site launched covered many of the work related topics that this site now does. It's my longest running, regularly maintained site (since 2002), and I use it mainly as a focus for my digital photography and rants about life and the culture I like. The site features a couple of camera related eBay and Amazon stores as well. Visit: DioBach.com

Real Cool Time

RealCoolTime.comThe site covers the music I love, using YouTube videos to provide the music. The site features a blog (that's in need of some attention) and reviews and articles on music. In time I hope to give the site an redesign and devote some more time to it. In the meantime, it lives on as it regularly picks up visitors looking for some of the more obscure music featured on there. Visit: RealCoolTime

Cheesy Movies

BingoCodes.co.ukThe site is currently stagnant, but awaiting a major overhaul this year (2008). It will get a complete redesign, a new blog and community features and reviews alongside its existing content. I love watching cheesy old films, and it pains me that I've not done more with this site to celebrate them. There will also be new commercial sections, featuring various shopping methods such as Amazon and eBay. Visit: Cheesy-Movies.com

BBC Projects

I worked on many projects in my time at BBC Wales' New Media department. I did a lot of regular maintenance tasks alongside the occasional project. The following sites are my pick of the projects I worked on.

Desktop Derek

PlayingBingo.co.ukI project managed the team responsible for the development and production of this unique application, the desktop version of BBC Wales famous weatherman Derek Brockway. The application gets regular updates from the BBC's weather feeds and reacts to the current weather conditions with a number of animations. It is still available for download for Windows PCs. Sports Personality Of The
Year 2004

Desktop DerekAnother site I was mainly responsible for the production of, from the initial idea to the finished product. The site involved a cross platform remit, featuring weekly on BBC 2W's sports news programme. The idea revolved around a panel of sporting experts giving weekly scores to Welsh sports stars based on their performance. Users were also able to get involved to pass on points to make a leaderboard and influence the final award. The site is no longer online.

Painting Flowers

Painting FlowersI worked as a part of the team responsible for this BAFTA nominated site. My main duties involved processing the massive image files the site used in its picture viewer, to improve the quality and levels of the images. I was also responsible for a portion of updates and content maintenance for the site. Visit: Painting Flowers
