Day Trip Media is the business name under which I work as an online publisher and advertiser. I set the business up in June 2006 after leaving the BBC, following my dream to set up my own self sufficent business venture. Initially the plan was for the business to involve both a couple of other creative friends and myself, under the Day Trip Media brand, pursuing work in visually creative fields such as video production, photography and web design. However, as time went on the business became a solo project, with a focus on affiliate and search marketing, a natural extension of what I was working on alongside the visual work.
The vast majority of the work I do revolves around running a number of successful online properties and monetising them through advertising and affiliate marketing. Occasionally for a change I will develop and design a website for clients, but mainly I choose my own sites and develop them for no other client than myself. This gives me the freedom to work on the sort of sites and projects that interest me, sometimes for monetary gain and other times simply because I love using the medium as my own cultural platform to engage people with the things that interest me.
Having worked for the BBC for 6 years prior to starting my own business I have a solid background in interactive production and development. I have tried to bring the high standards of integrity, content and editorial that I developed in my positions at the corporation to the work I do now on my own. A large portion of the work I do revolves around the promotion of online bingo, and developing unique and exciting content for fans of the game. As such, my aim is to be both investigative and uncompromising in the coverage of the game and some of the issues in the industry.
I'm also extending my knowledge and experience beyond online gaming to develop a number of niche based retail sites that fill gaps in the market. I strive to provide a quality affiliate platform to supply quality leads and traffic to online stores and services based around compelling content.
As well as web content I have professional experience of video production, other digital media and photography. The plan is to extend these areas of my business in the future, but for the foreseeable future improving existing web properties and developing exciting new sites will be the main focus of the business.
Currently I don't really offer any services to external clients, as I work on what I choose and arrange all my financial partnerships via existing online services. That said, it might be worth dropping me a line if you think I could help with a project you have planned, or want to discuss developing a compelling online presence with an experienced internet publisher. Feel free to drop us a line here if you want to shoot some ideas or potential business my way.
